Decorating Homes: Great Examples
As TV screens get larger and larger, care must be taken to make sure the seating is appropriate placed. You do not want to place the seating as close as in the
past when TV sets were much smaller.
Be careful to try to blend the TV screen into the decor of the room. They is more difficult for styles from the past (traditional, country and so forth) which
came into being before TV were ever invented. So the larger the screen, the more important it is to make sure it doesn't stick out like a sore thumb.
You'll often find the TV and entire entertainment center built into the wall in upscale homes. You can simulate this yourself by purchasing free standing
shelf units and stands that fill the entire wall. Some people hang an appropriate work of art over the TV screen when not in use. Others have simulated art that
slides out of view when the TV is being used.
Beautiful area rugs from one room to another work very nicely as you see pictured here. The rugs do not have to be exact matches, so long as they complement
each other. These two rugs are distinctly different - yet similar enough to work together.
Even though the space is clearly divided architecturally into two sections, they work nicely to create a flow. An attractive and unusual wall mounted
lighting fixture acts as a decorative art, giving the space even more interest and appeal.
We also have another fine example of a room doubling as a living room and a study. The floor to ceiling shelf units give it a "library" feeling. It is stately,
understated elegance. Beautifully done.
